On-time Arrival for Hearthside
The first household of new villagers in our Hearthside buildings took possession of their residence in mid-August. By mid-October, all 30 residences will be occupied, marking the completion of Phase 1… with a big sigh of relief.
Hearthside had been designed back in 2018 as a new product, complementing Cross Keys Village’s impressive portfolio of floor plans. We introduced Hearthside “on paper” to our wait list in late 2018, and the blend of authentic style and modern conveniences was an instant hit. By summer 2019 we had built and furnished a model home, allowing depositors to make an informed decision… and Phase 1 quickly sold out. Attractive design packages made it easy for future villagers to customize their homes, and the quality of the finishes kept the need for upgrades minimal.
A fruitful partnership with our general contractor and a mild winter gave us the impression that the Hearthside ship would soon dock, after the smoothest crossing. Then March hit… and with it came a seven-week shutdown of the worksite, as well as questions that kept us awake at night: Would we be able to deliver the residences on time to the depositors who had entrusted us? Would they, in turn, be able to sell their houses and plan a move? Would the wait listers who were penciled in for Phase 2 stick with their plan?
As William Inge wrote: “worry is interest paid on trouble before it comes due.” In the end, we were able to navigate this situation without undue trouble. The customary padding we had baked into the timeline allowed us to make the delivery dates – barely! The housing market came back to life hotter than ever, and most of the winter depositors for Phase 2 eventually converted to firm commitments.
While we aren’t able to host a big open house with speeches, munchies from Campus Dining, and an oversize pair of shiny scissors, we have put together a Virtual Open House video for your enjoyment. A select few residences in Phase 2 are available for reservation, with delivery dates in the spring of 2021. With that big sigh of relief I mentioned earlier comes the pleasure to invite you to visit Hearthside, a remarkable new residential option at Cross Keys Village, for today and tomorrow’s most discerning retirees.
