More Hearthside Residences in 2021
Last January, after months of preparation, Cross Keys Village announced the start of a new expansion to be built on 15 newly-acquired acres. The Hearthside homes, as the project became known, consist of harmonious multi-unit buildings in an authentic Gettysburg farmhouse style, each holding ten generously proportioned residences. The concept was distinct from our existing Residential Living product (cottages, apartments, and larger Bridgewater Homes), and we didn’t take it for granted how well this new program would be received.
One of the tools we needed to show Hearthside adequately to prospective villagers was a furnished model home, but we decided to start the pre-sale last January, several months before completion of the model. Thanks to a healthy wait list and to the originality of the Hearthside design, we took deposits on all 30 residences shortly after the model was built. It’s amazing how a seemingly flat area can present peaks and valleys, and the sitework was extensive. Soon afterwards, the buildings started taking their distinctive, attractive shape.
Interest in Hearthside didn’t stop when the first 3 buildings were sold. We actually kept the model home open every Friday during the fall to keep the momentum going. With our deep wait list for most apartments, cottages and Bridgewater homes, it soon became clear that we should continue with the Hearthside expansion to meet the market’s demand for Residential Living at Cross Keys Village. Indeed, if you don’t belong to our wait list already, Hearthside might be the quickest way to get in.
That is why our Board of Directors signed off on construction of additional Hearthside buildings that will be ready for new villagers in the spring of 2021. We created a new floor plan for this phase, a bright residence with a wall of windows and a large balcony. Hearthside is towards the higher end of our spectrum when it comes to fees, and we also continue renovating our attractive cottages in order to have options for more older adults in our region.
